LA2050's New Short Film "Join the Movement"
Posted by Goldhirsh Foundation Team on
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the LA2050 Grants Challenge. As part of the celebration, we are proud to present this brand new video.
We hope you enjoy! And, please keep watching to the end, because you’ll see a portrait gallery of the familiar faces of the people doing incredible work all across Los Angeles County.
In its first nine years, LA2050 has awarded over nine million dollars in grants, and inspired more than $12.3 million in additional giving to 117 non-profit organizations, government entities, and social impact businesses. This video had the impossible task of selecting just three to highlight at greater length. Watch to meet:
*Dominique and Ilka Perkins, who met while incarcerated and upon release in 2019 started People’s Pottery Project.
*Rudy Espinoza, executive director of Inclusive Action for the City, part of the original 2013 cohort of #LA2050GrantsChallenge winners; and Caridad Vasquez, who helped lead the effort to legalize street vending.
*Jamiah Hargins, founder of Crop Swap LA, which services food deserts, places in urban areas that don’t have access to fresh fruits and vegetables.
*Tara Roth, president, Goldhirsh Foundation and LA2050
Editor's Note 5/18/2023: "Join the Movement," has been named a Telly Awards Gold Winner!
